Experience an Elmbrook Education
The mission of the School District of Elmbrook is to educate and inspire every student to think, to learn, and to succeed. This mission is delivered in two high schools (grades 9-12), two middle schools (grades 6-8), six elementary schools (K-5), and a regional magnet school for students with special needs.
The district serves about 6,800 resident students from the City of Brookfield, the Village of Elm Grove, and portions of the Town of Brookfield and City of New Berlin, and about 700 nonresident students.
Depending upon the measurement used, the School District of Elmbrook ranks among the top five to ten school districts in the state and, based on ACT scores, Wisconsin consistently ranks first or second in the nation.
The composite ACT score for Brookfield Central and Brookfield East high schools for 2007 was 24.5 and the percentage of 10th grade students that scored proficient or advanced on state tests in 2007 was 95.1% in reading and 92.8% in math.
These results are attributable in part to the district’s offering 21 Advanced Placement (AP) courses, 1,195 students taking at least one AP course in 2007, and 87% of these students passing their AP exams with a score of three or higher, which qualifies for college credit. Newsweek Magazine ranks Brookfield Central and Brookfield East among the top 1,000 high schools in the nation.
The other schools in the district also perform well. For example, the percentage of 8th grade students that scored proficient or advanced on state tests in 2007 was 96.9% in reading and 94.1% in math; and of 4th grade students was 94.7% in reading and 94.1% in math.
Along side academics, the district provides comprehensive programs in the arts, foreign languages, vocational areas, and physical education and athletics.
